The Steel Stud Manufacturers Association (SSMA) has launched a third-party inspection Code Compliance Certification Program that will assure the marketplace of access to structural steel studs and track that comply with national and local building codes.

SSMA’s action signifies a strong initiative to assure code compliant structural metal framing products for users,” said SSMA Chairman Larry Stone. “Once fully implemented, the SSMA certification program will be the most comprehensive of its kind. Customers that buy certified products from SSMA members can gain confidence that the material received is part of SSMA’s third-party certification program and conforms to the most current version of the building code – the 2006 version of IBC.”
ClarkWestern Building Systems continues to produce code compliant members that meet and exceed the testing and specification standards established by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) and other major code authorities. See ClarkWestern’s Material Certification for product code approvals and performance standards.
Under the SSMA Program, ClarkWestern’s inspections will include:

SSMA’s Certified Program, ClarkWestern is doing it’s part to help support code compliance on Non-structural framing by being a Registered Provider in the award-winning AIA Continuing Education System. We are excited to be offering a One Hour Learning Unit course titled “Proper Specification and Installation Recommendations for Nonstructural Wall Framing”. ClarkWestern will be offering this course to help provide the tools that are needed to understand the different standards and requirements that govern the manufacture and installation of drywall studs.
The one hour Learning Unit course will discuss such factors as the selection of the proper stud, the proper installation of the metal stud framing, the use of the correct tools to install stud and gypsum board, and installing the proper bridging and bracing.
If you would like to set up the AIA-CES 1 Hour Learning Unit course, please send an e-mail to info@clarkwestern.com to receive more information. We look forward to hearing from you.
