Can CW RedHeader profile substitute the same width and gauge
of alternative opeing framing systems?
No, the RedHeader RO System has a different profile than alternative systems. The System must be sized by CW Design, CW Tech Services or from the span charts in the RedHeader RO literature. Also in most cases the RedHeader RO system will need to be approved by the Architect or Engineer of Record prior to the order.
How is this product jamb & header profile different than the
original 3” flange wall studs?
For the RedHeader header stud, it is painted Red and the width is 1/8” narrower than the Jamb, and is “un-punched”.
For the Jamb & Header, the return lip for a 3” flange standard stud is anywhere from 5/8”- 3/4”. The RedHeader jamb and header have 1” return lips for screw attachments and also increases lateral strength.
On the Drop N’ Lock Clip, does the screw in the slotted holes
count as connections to the Jamb Stud?
NO, the slotted holes are only used for field vertical adjustments. Four screws are required to the Jamb stud on top of the two slots if used.
What is the lead time for RedHeader products?
The jambs can be manufactured in Monroe, Jefferson, Baltimore, Rochelle and Riverside. The red headers can be manufactured in Monroe, Jefferson and Riverside. Contact CW Sales to verify availability and lead times, but should be no more than a week.
Does the difference in the size of the header and jamb studs
create a problem?
No. These differences are only 1/16” on each side of the header. If this does present a problem we suggest installing the “cripple” top track flush with the inside of the jamb studs.
